The Challenge
The backyard was large and largely ignored. Without defined areas for dining, relaxing, or gathering around a fire, there was no pull to be outside. The homeowners came to Apple Landscape Design for a complete redesign: every square foot maximized, every detail built to last, all of it within building codes.
The Solution
Apple Landscape Design came into this project with one mission: maximize the space differently. The result is a multi-zone outdoor living environment built for real life.
A large-format paver patio anchors the design, its flowing curved border inlay adding elegance and drawing movement through the space. Just off the home's sliding doors, a dedicated dining area with room for a market umbrella makes stepping outside as natural as walking into another room.
The fire pit is the centerpiece. A circular stone surround with a curved seating wall, Adirondack-style chairs, pillar accents, and lantern lighting overhead creates a place people actually want to be after dark. Built-in LED lighting in the seating wall keeps the space inviting well into the evening.
Planted borders frame the hardscape perimeter, and landscape lighting runs throughout the patio edge, pillars, and seating wall so the entire space looks as good at night as it does in the afternoon.
The Result
The backyard went from ignored to the most-used space on the property. Distinct zones for dining, lounging, and gathering around the fire are connected by a paver system that flows naturally from the house into the yard. Premium materials and integrated lighting give the space a finished look that holds up season after season.
